Hotels with character. And a guest experience to match.
SALT is a studio for boutique hospitality strategy and experience design, founded by Penelope Sieper. SALT works with independent boutique hotels on what their hotel stands for, how it feels and how that is lived every day: from identity and positioning through concept and atmosphere to service and operations.
The aim is a hotel that knows what it is, and lets guests feel it: distinctive, coherent and quietly memorable.

Strategic ambition and the reality of running a hotel, brought together.
Penelope brings a background in luxury hospitality, international and in leadership roles, including hotel operations, guest experience and pre-opening. She knows hotels from the inside, which is why positioning, atmosphere and guest experience at SALT are never developed apart from the people and processes that carry them.
Positioning with substance
What a hotel stands for is always linked to what it means for guests, team and day-to-day operations.
Atmosphere as a decision
Light, language, rhythm and service are part of the concept, not decoration added at the end.
From concept to operations
Experience in operations and pre-opening helps translate a concept into processes and responsibilities your team can carry.
Four convictions behind every project.
Clarity before aesthetics.
A place can only feel beautiful when it knows what it is. Strategy precedes surface — always.
Atmosphere is a discipline.
It is not decoration. It is the result of decisions made about light, language, rhythm, ritual, and restraint.
Memorable is quiet.
The most distinctive places rarely shout. They are confident enough to whisper, and precise enough to be remembered.
Strategy must work in service.
If a concept cannot survive contact with operations, it isn't a concept yet. SALT designs both ends together.

Where soul meets system.
